eBooks in the BQ Library Collection

Search for eBooks in the BQ Library Catalog

The library has two main collections of eBooks: EBSCOhost which is where you will find many of our more academic books the North Dakota Academic Consortium available through Libby where you will find more recreational reading and listening. You can use the main library's catalog to find any of these books. After searching, limit the results with the Available online and Books filters.

Search for eBooks in the individual collections

As stated above, the library's  eBook options are intended for different purposes. You can search each individually.

What does DRM-Free Mean?

DRM-Free books are digital publications that don't contain Digital Rights Management restrictions, allowing readers complete freedom to access, copy, share, and use the content across multiple devices without limitations. For faculty, DRM-Free library eBooks offer significant advantages in course design: they can be easily incorporated into learning management systems, freely excerpted for course readings, shared simultaneously with unlimited students, and accessed offline without special software. Faculty can leverage these unrestricted eBooks to create more accessible and flexible course materials, allowing students to annotate, highlight, and engage with texts using their preferred devices and reading tools. By working with their institutional library to identify DRM-Free collections, instructors can enhance the learning experience while reducing barriers to educational content.

How can I find DRM-Free eBooks?

DRM-Free eBooks available in the BQ Library can be searched for in the library catalog. After performing a search, locate filters on the left-side of the screen. At the bottom of the list of filters is DRM Note. This will limit your results to only materials available in a DRM-Free format.

Can I request that the library purchases a book DRM-Free?

The library is happy to take requests for any books. If you have a specific title in mind, contact the library. We will determine if a DRM-Free version of the book is available and if it is within our budget to purchase it. DRM-Free eBooks are more expensive than other access models but they are much easier for everyone to access so the library has prioritized purchasing in this format.
